Comrex asked Manta to help them develop the Matrix, a product designed to capitalize on the industry trend towards remote broadcast. The Matrix allows transmission of professional quality audio to a radio station for broadcast using a standard phone line, but can be used with an optional cell phone, battery, and modem or ISDN module for total wireless freedom.

Manta organized the controls and connections into logical groupings, connecting the elements with curved, molded in lines. To minimize product cost, the design team chose a simple two part injection molded enclosure design optimized around a single main circuit board. The enclosure parts are molded in a bi-color transparent material that allows the spray metalized shielding to be seen on the inside surface of the parts, creating an intriguing sense of visual depth, drawing attention in a sophisticated way.

The Matrix won “best of show” awards from the two top publications in the industry, gaining great recognition and exposure for the product, creating high demand – Comrex has received many pre-production orders. Comrex has built a high quality brand image and established themselves as a leader in their industry.
